BUP: Sustainable Food Production in Climate Change

Achieving sustainable food production is key to meeting the UN's sustainable development goals. As part of the Baltic University Program, an online student conference on Sustainable Food Production in Conditions of Climate Change is currently taking place, bringing together more than sixty participants from twelve countries around the world. The event takes place on the occasion of the spring presidency of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra and is organized by the SUA in cooperation with the University of Uppsalla in Sweden.

During the two-day conference, students will gain unique information about different types of sustainable food production and what it might look like on a warming planet. Leading experts from the food industry and academia will give lectures, including teachers from our university.

The student conference includes a workshop entitled From Idea to Consumer, focused on creating innovative ideas and developing new food products. Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity in the field of food product design, reveal the secrets of marketing strategies in the agri-food sector and learn how to market food products. They will also gain knowledge about the food safety system as well as nutritional and health requirements.
