SUA in Nitra was placed in the most prestigious Shanghai ranking for the first time

In the same category Agricultural sciences, SUA (total score 19.1) was placed in the 400-500 place together with Technical University Zvolen (TS 20.2).

Of the other Slovak universities, only the Comenius University in Bratislava was ranked 300-400 in physics and 400-500 in clinical medicine.

The SUA scored for the first time thanks to the increase in points in the category Q1 articles (Q1), the number of citations per scientific article (CNCI) and the representation of international authors in articles (International Cooperation, IC).

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), known as the Shanghai Ranking, focuses primarily on the scientific and research level of institutions. It uses six indicators to evaluate world universities:

  • alumni of the institution who have won the Nobel Prize or the Fields Medal,
  • employees of the institution who won the Nobel Prize or the Fields Medal,
  • the number of most cited researchers,
  • number of publications in Nature and Science journals,
  • the number of publications indexed in the Social Science Citation Index or in the Social Citation Index-Expanded,
  • weighted score of the previous five criteria in proportion to the number of scientific workers.
