SUA basketball players won gold medals at the Summer Universiade, SUA also succeeded in other sports

The Summer Universiade was held on September 1-6, 2024 at the Slovak Technical University (STU) in Bratislava. More than 600 athletes - university students - fought in 14 sports and 80 disciplines for 580 medals. The largest student sports competition in Slovakia takes place every four years. Therefore, most university students have the opportunity to participate in this event only once or twice during their university studies.

The ceremonial opening of the SR 2024 Summer Universiade took place on September 3 in the hall of the Faculty of Architecture of STU with the participation of the Secretary General of the International Federation of University Sports (FISU) Eric Saintrond from Belgium, STU Rector Oliver Moravčík, SAUŠ President Július Dubovský, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Slovak Republic. The burning torch of the Universiade was brought to the opening ceremony by the athlete Ján Volko, multiple Slovak record holder in short sprints, who also took the Universiade pledge on behalf of the athletes.

In swimming, SUA was represented by Viktória Matyusová, a student of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources (FAFR), who took 1st place in the 50-meter breaststroke category, and two third places in the 50-meter butterfly and 100-meter breaststroke categories. At the same time, she placed 8th in the 50 meter freestyle discipline. In the men's category, SUA colors were represented by Richard Kardhordó (FAFR), who took 5th place in the 50 and 100 meter breaststroke, 6th place in the 50 meter freestyle and 7th place in the 100 meter freestyle.

SUA students managed to win gold and silver in team sports. In the Basketball category, men took 1st place after the results of SUA - TUKE 81:72, SUA - UK BA 120:44 and SUA - ŽU ZA 117:65. The university was represented by students Šimon Antal (FE), Mihajlo Gikič (FEM), Jakov Jacovič (FEM), Lukáš Kotleba (FE), Mathew Lesch (FEM), Roman Linder (FEM), Samuel Misal (FEM), Peter Slepčan (FHLE) , Adam Šimko (FEM), Ľubomír Urban Jr. (FAFR), Nikola Zdravkovič (FEM) under the guidance of PaedDr. Ľubomír Urban and Mgr. Igor Gavalovič.

SUA footballers won 2:1 over EU BA in the semi-final and took second place in the final after the result of UMB BB - SUA 3:1. SUA was represented by Filip Baranovič (FEM), Matúš Bíro (FEM), Tomáš Duchoň (FEM), Tobias Guliš (FBFS), Ivan Hádek (FESRD), Patrik Jančovič (FEM), Patrik Korman (FE), Marek Michalička (FEM), Adrián Mokoš (FEM), Denis Pánsky (FEM), Patrik Rédeky (FAFR), Christopher Salviany (FEM), Jakub Sova (FAFR) and Ľubomír Šoky (FEM) under the guidance of coach Egon Zorad.
