SUA in Nitra signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture. It will start the creation of the Innovation Centre

The aim of the document is to create a basic framework for partnership and cooperation in the field of science, research and innovation, education, consulting and knowledge transfer into practice, cooperation with professional organizations, associations and agricultural self-government.

"I am sincerely pleased that the memorandum will start the whole process of the birth of the Innovation Centre at SUA in Nitra, which will significantly strengthen the research space in our agri-food industry in particular. The acquired knowledge will have a positive impact on agricultural practice and thanks to that we will be able to move towards more and more innovations in Slovakia as well, "said Minister Samuel Vlčan. The university and the ministry will actively cooperate in fulfilling the common goals defined in the Vision of common procedures in building modern agriculture in the horizon of 2035, approved by the Government of the Slovak Republic in December 2021.

Rector Klaudia Halászová emphasized that the university strives to connect the scientific ecosystem in agricultural areas, but also in green infrastructure - education, science, research, innovation, application practice. "In the 70 years of the existence of the Slovak University of Agriculture, we have moved from solving the topics of classical agriculture to innovation. The Innovation Centre should connect the departmental scientific infrastructure with the university research infrastructure. Our idea is to be a point where together with us entrepreneurs, farmers, food producers, biotechnology, landscapers and others, create an innovation potential for our country, but also a space for the exchange of foreign scientists, postdoctoral students, a platform for internationalization, popularization of science and research. "

The plan of the ministry is the interconnection, the so-called functional symbiosis of scientific research activities of the university with research institutes, especially NPPC departmental workplaces, but also with other research workplaces at home and abroad, and thus help the development and modernization of Slovak agriculture.

"In order to create more added value for Slovak farmers and food producers, we need to work more intensively. The only way to a common scientific ecosystem leads to us, as the Slovak Republic, having something to offer abroad, “both signatories to the memorandum agreed.

Representatives of the faculties and the management of the AgroBioTech Research Centre also took part in the ceremony. As part of the programme, the Minister visited selected research institutes at the AgroBioTech Research Centre
