SUA will again implement the EIT Food project, with the involvement of senior citizens

EIT Food RIS Consumer Engagement Labs is an activity implemented by EIT Food partners in 2019-2021 and coordinated by the University of Warsaw. This project involves the target group of consumers in pre-competitive physical or online meetings focused on joint creation, which are limited in time and focused on the development of new product concepts.

In 2020, the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, under the auspices of prof. Ing. Adriana Kolesárová, PhD., Vice-Dean for Science and Research and International Relations at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences, for the first time participated in this activity, the target group of which was older consumers. Due to the limitations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the EIT Food RIS CEL 2020 project - "Involving Consumers in New Product Development" - took place in the form of online creative seminars.

Also in 2021, the project will be implemented through the SUA in Nitra, Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences, in cooperation with the AgroBioTech Research Center as well as other European partners of EIT Food, while online group meetings will be held, which will build on last year's results. The meetings will be attended by older consumers, including last year's seminar participants.

The seminars will focus on selected topics related to the preferences of older consumers and their consumer behaviour related to food choices. As last year, this year the meetings will be moderated by university researchers and the results of the online seminars will be communicated in the next implementation steps to local food companies, retailers and packaging companies, which will be involved in the project as business partners.

The phases of the EIT Food RIS CEL 2021 project include:

· Meetings for consumers with group discussions, individual and team creative tasks,

· Meetings with at least 20 local companies operating in the food sector, during which the results of the seminars will be presented to the companies,

· Final joint meeting for consumers and food companies.
