The competition For Water was dominated by the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering

In the fifth year of the nationwide competition For Water, which is announced annually by the Ekopolis Foundation, the first three places were taken by students and graduates of the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering (FHLE) of SUA.

The winner is Martin Manina, a recent graduate with a proposal for rainwater management in the main campus of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. The second place was taken by Miroslav Čibik and his proposal for the stylization of the wetland community in the village of Trenčianske Biskupice. The shared third place belongs to the project of flood and erosion protection in the village of Veľké Zálužie by Jakub Pagáč and Alexandra Pagáč Mokrá.

A special award of the jury for high quality, originality and contribution was won by a FHLE student Andrea Zajacová for the project Attractiveness of the pond in the area of dilapidated Spa Byšta.

The main ambition of the competition is to connect young people with those who are looking for solutions to specific water problems in their towns and villages. Municipalities, associations or companies first nominate specific situations or problems related to the retention or use of rainwater, drought, floods, soil removal from fields or water purification. Subsequently, students and young professionals aged 18 to 30 are looking for solutions to these situations, which they present to the jury in the form of projects, said Martina Ragalová from the Ekopolis Foundation, which organizes the competition.
