Rectors of three other universities were also appointed - the University of Žilina in Žilina will be led by prof. Ján Čelko, University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra prof. Libor Vozár and the Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava prof. Lucia Kurilovská.

In her speech, President Zuzana Čaputová drew attention to the problem of the quality of higher education.

"The discussion about the quality of higher education is still conditioned by the need to solve the most essential problem, their financial security. Slovakia did not use the times of relative prosperity and security for a more fundamental remedy, "she said.

According to her, we are currently going through a period when our economy was hit by two years of pandemics and now Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. "Urgent issues related to energy prices, food prices and the availability of housing are coming to the fore," the head of state said.

The President reminded that in addition to the financial security of universities, it is necessary to work on other aspects that may contribute to the outflow of Slovak students abroad. "The atmosphere in society and in schools, fairness and compliance with the rules, as well as the fight against practices that reduce the seriousness of the academic environment in front of the public, are also important."

 

 

Doc. Ing. Klaudia Halászová, PhD., was in 2004 - 2012 Vice-Dean for Studies of the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering (FHLE)of the SUA in Nitra, in 2012 – 2018 she was the Dean of FHLE. In 2018, she was elected for a four-year term as the Rector of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. She has been working at the SUA since 1997.

The focus of her pedagogical activities are lectures in the study program of landscape engineering. She is a member of the scientific councils of domestic and foreign universities, a member of the Partnership Council for Integrated Territorial Development NSK (2021-2027), a member of the certification board - the certification body ASTRAIA, Ltd. Nitra, a member of the Commission for Spatial Planning and Regional Development of the Nitra Regional Office, etc.

In her election program, she stated the goal of creating and maintaining an attractive and motivating environment for students, teachers, researchers, staff and collaborators from external institutions, intensifying cooperation with practice, continuing to make active international contacts and internationalizing research. The aim is also to complete the main processes of harmonization of the internal system in terms of standards for the internal system, to continue building elements of green and modern infrastructure, to build the SUA Creative Center, which will provide an opportunity to engage in the creative industry. As a basic infrastructure for research and innovation in the field of green economy and food industry to build Biohouse, Food Incubator.
