Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra

Representatives of both universities signed a new Memorandum of Understanding on 9 July in Debrecen. The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in education, research and internationalisation and to address shared challenges in agriculture, food production, technology and economics.

The SUA delegation, led by Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Internationalisation Lucia Palšová, was welcomed by the management of the University of Debrecen.

“We believe that our long-standing cooperation has significant potential for further development through concrete joint activities involving the cooperating faculties of both universities,” said Lucia Palšová.

Vice-Rector of the University of Debrecen Dénes Páll highlighted the importance of expanding the existing partnership. “The cooperation will now involve three faculties of the University of Debrecen and will also contribute to the further internationalisation of our university,” he said.

László Stündl, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Debrecen, emphasised the importance of joint efforts in addressing challenges shared by the countries of the Carpathian Basin, including drought, late spring frosts, and the spread of diseases and pests. “This requires precision agriculture, modern technologies and a comprehensive scientific approach supported by technical and economic expertise,” he said.

The new agreement will support increased student and academic staff mobility, joint research projects, professional events and international research activities, opening up new opportunities for collaboration between the two universities.
