SUA Expands International Cooperation with Universities in Southern Italy

SUA signed cooperation agreements with the University of Bari Aldo Moro, the Polytechnic University of Bari, and the Libera Università Mediterranea (LUM). The university was represented by Professor Adriana Kolesárová, Director of the AgroBioTech Research Centre.

The new partnerships will support the development of joint educational, research, and innovation activities, while also creating opportunities for student, doctoral, academic, and research staff mobility. The cooperation will include the preparation of joint research projects, professional placements, seminars, workshops, conferences, and participation in international research and innovation programmes.

According to SUA Rector Klaudia Halászová, the agreements represent another important step in the university’s internationalisation strategy. “Internationalisation is one of our strategic priorities. Cooperation with respected universities in Bari opens new opportunities for joint research, high-quality education, and international experience for our students and staff. The Apulia region is closely connected to our areas of expertise, particularly agriculture, food sciences, environmental studies, and regional development, which creates strong potential for meaningful cooperation,” she said.

The partner institutions also expressed their interest in developing joint degree programmes that could lead to double or multiple diplomas.

President Peter Pellegrini welcomed the cooperation, highlighting the strong agricultural tradition of the Apulia region, which is internationally known for its olive oil production. He noted that the partnership between universities in Slovakia and Apulia creates valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

SUA was part of the Slovak academic delegation together with representatives of eight Slovak universities and the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The university’s participation underlined its commitment to expanding international cooperation in education, research, innovation, and knowledge transfer.

The newly established partnerships are expected to strengthen collaboration in fields closely linked to SUA’s academic profile, including agricultural and biological sciences, biotechnology, food sciences, environmental studies, regional development, management, agribusiness, and applied technologies.
