Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra

Vision Slovakia 2040 was presented at the National Forum on 1 September. The document was prepared under the auspices of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and is the result of extensive cooperation among experts and stakeholders from academia, business and the public sector. More than 350 experts and stakeholders from various fields contributed to its preparation. The process included expert discussions, round tables and regional workshops involving more than 150 partners. The authors also considered more than 2,300 comments submitted by over 450 organisations and institutions.

Vision Slovakia 2040 is an independent, non-partisan and cross-sectoral strategic document that identifies the key challenges, opportunities and risks likely to shape the quality of life in Slovakia in the coming years. It takes into account geopolitical, technological and climate-related changes, as well as developments in the labour market, economy, society and security environment.

In preparing Vision Slovakia 2040, the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra cooperated with the Slovak Agriculture and Food Chamber (SPPK) and the Food Chamber of Slovakia (PKS).

Four Pillars for the Future of Slovakia

The vision is built on four interconnected pillars. Successful Slovakia focuses on the economy, innovation and the future of work. Quality of Life addresses people, society and social cohesion. Sustainable Country covers the green and energy transition, as well as mobility. The fourth pillar, Modern State, focuses on the functioning of public institutions, justice, defence, security and the digital transformation of the state.

The document also highlights the need for investment in people, education, science, research and innovation, as well as the importance of responding to demographic and technological changes, including the rapid development of artificial intelligence.

Universities and research institutions play a crucial role in this process, contributing to the development of an educated, innovative and competitive society and helping shape Slovakia’s capacity to respond effectively to the challenges of the future
