SUA students in Brussels at a simulated meeting of the Council of the EU. They tried positions in diplomatic spheres

The goal of the ConSIMium event, organized by the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union, was to enable young people to acquire practical skills related to public speaking in diplomatic spheres, such as presenting their position, discussion and negotiation, as well as learning about the functioning of EU structures. The Slovak Rector's Conference was the Slovak partner of the pilot project.

SUA in Nitra was represented at the event by Bc. Lenka Mačugová, student of the International SP International Master of Horticulture Science at the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering and Bc. Viktor Palko, student of Regional Development and European Union Policy at the Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development. During two days, they took part in a simulation of the EU Council negotiations on climate change, especially CO2 emissions for cars and infrastructure for alternative fuels. The core of the discussions was the question of how to create a regulatory framework that will support the use of alternative fuels and reduce the carbon footprint of the transport sector.

Participation in the simulation was a great experience and benefit for both representatives of SUA in Nitra. "It broadened our horizons and left us with only positive emotions. We recommend it to anyone who has such an opportunity," students said. After completing the simulation, the students also received a certificate of participation in the project and an overview of future career opportunities in the Council of the EU.
