The Faculty of Engineering of SUA is in the TOP 10 most sought-after Slovak faculties

The Faculty of Engineering of the Slovak University of Agriculture is one of the most sought-after faculties in Slovakia in terms of employers' interest in graduates. In the ranking compiled by the Profesia.sk portal for 2023, it ranked ninth. On average, 3.15 employers view the CV of a faculty graduate. "We are pleased that we have jumped 15 places in this rating over the past year and have reached the top ten faculties in Slovakia," said the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Roman Gálik, in the university podcast "Come to the Green!". The great interest of companies in students during their studies is also signaled by the fact that the faculty invites increasingly younger years to Career Days, as graduating students mostly already have job offers.

The Faculty of Engineering considers the application of graduates in practice to be a key indicator of the quality of education. It is represented in various associations and organizations and also cooperates with other universities, including foreign ones. "Students choose the topic of their final thesis already in the second year of their bachelor's degree, and many of them solve it directly in a company and continue there at the engineering level. During that time, they profile themselves for the company in such a way that they also receive a job offer," pointed out R. Gálik. In addition to companies, secondary vocational schools are also interested in students of the faculty, which offer them employment in teaching professions. There is still a shortage of teachers who would provide technical subjects at secondary vocational schools. "Our motto "Study technology, you have a future" is true. Although the study is not easy, it is manageable and creates great opportunities for practical application," emphasized the dean.

The Faculty of Engineering currently has three study programs with international accreditation, which have received the EUR-ACE quality mark. The mark guarantees students that the study program meets the highest European quality standards. Accreditation is granted for five years. Since two study programs are currently scheduled to end in January 2025, the faculty is submitting applications for accreditation again.

Joint projects with practice - ZF University and Agrion University - will also continue this academic year. "We also offer students the opportunity to obtain additional certificates that will expand their employment opportunities on the labor market, whether it is a certificate of internal auditor of the quality management system, internal auditor of the occupational health and safety system, international welding engineer, or international welding technologist, or even a course of safety technicians," added R. Gálik.

Part of the organizational structure of the Faculty of Engineering is also the Driving School Academy, which can boast a new electric car. "The electric car Volkswagen Golf with automatic transmission was purchased from funds that the Academy Driving School had been saving for several years and based on the sale of older vehicles. It is currently used primarily for fitness driving, we plan to include driving this vehicle in the curriculum of basic courses for group B," the dean informed. The purchase of the electric car is in line with the long-term concept of SUA as a Green University. "The second criterion for choosing the vehicle was environmental protection, the third was the trends in the use of alternative energy sources in the teaching process," he added. The electric car can be recharged at two charging stations located directly on the university campus near the AgroBioTech Research Center.

The Faculty of Engineering is celebrating 55 years since its founding this year. It was established in 1969 as the Faculty of Mechanization, and in 2008 it changed its name to the Faculty of Engineering. Currently, approximately 750 students study here in three levels of study.
