SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities Reduce inequality within and among countries. |
Our Contribution to SDG 10
The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA) promotes inclusion and equal opportunities by supporting access to education, providing services for students with specific needs and implementing policies intended to prevent discrimination within its academic community.
The university recognises that students and staff may face different barriers related to disability, social background, financial circumstances and other individual characteristics. Institutional support and fair participation are central to its contribution to reducing inequalities.
Research and Innovation
Research in regional development, economics, social sciences and agricultural policy provides insight into disparities between places, sectors and social groups. SUA's work on rural development and the economic position of farmers is relevant to understanding unequal access to opportunities and resources.
European cooperation broadens academic participation and knowledge exchange across countries and institutions. Research results can inform more inclusive approaches to education, employment and regional development when their relevance and practical application are explicitly demonstrated.
Education and Student Engagement
SUA supports students with specific needs through institutional coordination, counselling and measures intended to improve access to the academic environment. Support may include assistance with the organisation of studies and access to suitable educational resources or technologies, in accordance with university rules.
Financial-support information, social scholarships and counselling can help eligible students facing economic difficulties. International mobility and academic collaboration provide further opportunities for intercultural learning and participation in wider educational networks.
Public Engagement and Community Activities
The university's public activities, educational events and professional cooperation engage students, researchers and external stakeholders from different backgrounds. Outreach and lifelong-learning opportunities can extend access to university knowledge beyond traditional student groups.
SUA's inclusion-oriented services and policies are also publicly described, helping prospective students identify available support. Specific claims about changes in participation or accessibility outcomes should be supported by monitoring data.
Inclusion and Institutional Practices
The Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2023–2026 establishes principles for a fair and inclusive academic environment. SUA also has a Gender Equality Action Plan 2022–2028 and institutional procedures relating to equal treatment and support for students with specific needs.
The University Counselling and Support Centre provides psychological, social and other counselling services and coordinates support for students who encounter barriers during their studies. These measures form a practical foundation for inclusion, but the number of beneficiaries and effectiveness of individual interventions require separate reporting.
