Our Contribution to SDG 16
The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA) contributes to SDG 16 through academic governance, ethical standards, transparent institutional procedures, participation in decision-making and education that supports responsible professional and civic conduct.
As a public university, SUA operates within the legal framework governing higher education in Slovakia. Its institutional structures and policies establish responsibilities for academic management, staff and student participation and the integrity of education and research.
Research and Innovation
Research and education in law, economics, public policy, regional development and social sciences contribute knowledge relevant to governance, institutional effectiveness and responsible decision-making. Academic work may examine regulatory frameworks, public administration and the relationship between institutions and society.
Research integrity is also essential to reliable scientific results. SUA's ethical standards and institutional procedures provide a framework for responsible research conduct, publication and cooperation with external partners. Specific claims about cases, enforcement outcomes or training participation require documented evidence.
Education and Student Engagement
SUA educates students in professional ethics, legal and regulatory responsibilities, public policy and related fields according to the focus of their study programmes. Participation in academic bodies offers students opportunities to engage with university decision-making processes.
Student representation, academic debate and access to institutional information can support understanding of democratic governance and accountability. University counselling and support services provide additional channels through which students can raise concerns and seek assistance.
Public Engagement and Community Activities
SUA contributes expertise to public institutions and professional debates through research cooperation, consultations, conferences and educational activities. Its involvement in policy-related work, including expert contributions to Slovakia's Architectural Policy, illustrates cooperation between academic and public-sector actors.
Publicly accessible strategies, institutional reports and information about university activities can help external stakeholders understand the university's objectives and performance. Participation in community events and professional networks supports dialogue between researchers, public authorities and civil society.
Governance, Ethics and Institutional Practices
University governance includes academic and administrative structures with responsibilities set out in applicable legislation and institutional rules. Academic representation and formal decision-making procedures provide mechanisms for participation and accountability.
Ethical standards and internal regulations address aspects of employee conduct, academic integrity and institutional responsibility. The strategic plan, annual reports, diversity and inclusion policy and gender equality framework provide additional documentation of university objectives and practices.
The existence of these documents should not be treated as proof of the effectiveness of complaints procedures, anti-corruption measures or other compliance systems without implementation records. Any claims about confidential reporting mechanisms or outcomes should be verified with the responsible institutional units.
