SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. |
Our Contribution to SDG 3
The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA) contributes to health and well-being through research on nutrition and food quality, university counselling and support services, education, occupational safety and opportunities for physical activity and community engagement.
The university addresses health-related needs within its academic community while also contributing scientific expertise relevant to food safety, healthy diets and the relationship between agriculture, the environment and human health. Its contribution is complementary to that of healthcare providers and public health institutions.
Research and Innovation
Research at SUA examines food composition, nutrition, functional ingredients, food safety, biotechnology and the environmental conditions that influence health. The AgroBioTech Research Centre and related university laboratories support applied research aimed at developing and assessing food products, processing methods and analytical technologies.
International projects, including CATALYSE, promote the exchange and uptake of food-safety innovations across research, regulation and industry. Research cooperation connects scientific results with practical challenges facing food producers and consumers.
Education and Student Engagement
Study programmes in food science, nutrition, biotechnology, agriculture and related disciplines provide students with knowledge relevant to health, food quality and prevention. Laboratory exercises and applied projects allow students to gain practical skills in scientific analysis and responsible production.
SUA's University Counselling and Support Centre provides access to support services, including psychological counselling and assistance for students experiencing personal or study-related difficulties. Student sporting, cultural and extracurricular activities provide additional opportunities for social connection and physical well-being.
Public Engagement and Community Activities
Public educational events, professional workshops and outreach activities share information about nutrition, food safety, healthy lifestyles and environmental factors affecting well-being. Collaboration with schools, professional associations and external organisations helps make university research accessible to wider audiences.
University counselling information and support initiatives also encourage awareness of mental health and the availability of assistance. Claims about specific health outcomes or the number of people served should be supported by the relevant service records.
Health, Safety and Student Support
SUA maintains institutional arrangements for occupational health and safety in teaching, laboratory and workplace settings. University services address counselling, support for students with specific needs and access to appropriate information and assistance.
The university's student support infrastructure includes services relevant to mental health, financial and social concerns and the accessibility of study. These services are important components of a supportive academic environment, although their effectiveness should be assessed through documented participation and outcome data.
