SDG 4 – Quality Education Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. |
Our Contribution to SDG 4
The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA) supports inclusive, high-quality education and lifelong learning through its degree programmes, professional training, public educational activities and accessible academic resources. Education combines scientific knowledge with practical experience and responds to the needs of students, employers and society.
SUA also promotes equal opportunities and a supportive academic environment, enabling learners from different backgrounds and age groups to engage in educational activities.
Research and Innovation
Research and innovation are closely linked to SUA's teaching. Students can participate in scientific projects, laboratory activities, applied research and cooperation with external partners. Research facilities, including the AgroBioTech Research Centre, provide opportunities to connect academic learning with innovation in agriculture, food systems and environmental sciences.
The university develops and updates study programmes in cooperation with relevant stakeholders, supporting the quality and practical relevance of education. International projects also enable the exchange of innovative teaching methods and access to multidisciplinary learning opportunities.
Education and Student Engagement
SUA provides bachelor's, master's and doctoral education across its six faculties. Its programmes address agriculture, food science, biotechnology, engineering, economics, landscape management and regional development.
In the academic year 2024/2025, 1,358 students graduated, and as of 31 October 2025 the university recorded 4,743 enrolled students. For 2025/2026, SUA identified 268 sustainability-related courses across 59 study programmes, reflecting its commitment to education for sustainable development.
Students receive academic support and opportunities for practical training, international mobility, research and extracurricular engagement.
Public Engagement and Community Activities
Learning at SUA extends beyond its enrolled student community. The university offers continuing professional education, public lectures, educational festivals, workshops for school pupils and activities associated with the University of the Third Age.
Events such as Nitra University Days, the Children's Summer University and AGROFILM introduce scientific and environmental topics to broader audiences. Researchers and specialists also participate in exhibitions, practical demonstrations and school-based educational activities.
The Slovak Agricultural Library and the university's electronic publications support access to scientific and educational information for learners, researchers and members of the public.
Institutional Practices and Educational Support
SUA's approach to education is supported by internal quality-assurance arrangements, academic services and policies promoting equal treatment. The university's Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2023–2026 provides institutional principles for non-discrimination and an inclusive academic environment.
The university also operates digital learning and information systems that support access to study materials, communication and academic administration. Publicly available electronic publications and library resources help extend the educational reach of SUA beyond its campus.
